From January 1, 2025, new regulations will come into force, requiring PET bottles to contain at least 25% recycled plastic material. This is part of the EU's Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP Directive) and aims to promote a more circular economy by reducing the need for newly produced plastic. Which products are covered?

What is rPET?

Recycled plastic, often called rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), is plastic that is collected, processed, and transformed into new material. By using rPET, we reduce the need for virgin PET, which in turn helps to save resources and reduce carbon emissions.

As a producer, you need to ensure that at least 25% of the material in your plastic bottles is recycled starting from January 1, 2025. This means you must replace your packaging that does not contain recycled material. You must also be able to demonstrate that your packaging meets the requirements.
