We at Creopack are proud to partner with CleanSea - an organization that works daily to clean Sweden's west coast of plastic and waste. As part of the packaging cycle, we feel a responsibility to give back, which is why we have adopted the bay of Björholmen on Tjörn, which is now part of the 100 for the Ocean initiative.
Why CleanSea?
Every hour, ocean currents wash the equivalent of five full bathtubs of plastic onto the Swedish west coast. This means that over 700 tons of plastic end up here every year - and up to 80% of the litter comes from other countries. CleanSea is a passionate team that has already removed hundreds of tons of plastic and saved countless animals from a life in trash. Through their efforts, the ocean will be cleaner, healthier and safer for future generations.
We have adopted a bay
We have chosen to adopt Björholmen on Tjörn, a place where large amounts of plastic accumulate after storms. The bay has a coastline of about 6 km, which means there is plenty of work for the CleanSea team to keep the area clean all year round.
Bracelets that make a difference
By purchasing a CleanSea wristband, you are directly contributing to the removal of plastic from oceans and beaches. Each bracelet represents 1 kg of litter removed. It's a simple way to wear your commitment with pride and remind you that small actions can have a big impact. The bracelets are handmade in Turkey by an organization that provides jobs for people in need of employment, in the same place where the material (GOTS certified cotton thread) is also produced.
Together for a cleaner ocean
Companies, organizations and individuals can all contribute in different ways. By adopting a bay, participating in cleanup events, buying wristbands or supporting CleanSea through partnerships. Every effort, big or small, will help keep the coast free of plastic and give the ocean a healthier future.
Our mission is to spread the fantastic initiative that CleanSea represents!
